My Everyday Life With An Amazing Little Girl

The First Month

The first 3 weeks were full of visitors, doctor appointments, diapers and feeds. The first 2-3 days I think you live on adrenaline. It was all so new and exciting, that although I was tired, I could jump out of bed no problem. At the hospital I actually had to set my alarm every 3 hours to wake her and feed her at night because she never wanted to wake up.

We were able to go home on Thursday October 14.

All dressed in pink and ready to go!

She looks so tiny in her carseat!

It was so exciting to get home. Our life as three was finally starting. Here are just a few of our pictures from our first night at home:

Not so sure about this bath thing.

Me, little boy, and Ellie...cuddle time.

As the days wore on, it became just a little harder to jump out of bed. Especially since my little angel went from sleeping for 4 hours at a time to only 2-3. She seemed to love being wide awake at 2am or 4am. Although exhausting, I enjoyed having this time with her when there was no one else to disturb us. It was just the two of us. I would sit and talk to her, and she would look me right in the eyes like she knew exactly what I was saying.

What do you mean it's 2am?

During the day we were usually able to take at least one nap together. There is absolutely nothing better than having your newborn, all warm and cuddly, laying on your chest sleeping with you. She just melted into me and would instantly fall alseep. It was love.

Aunt Vicky and Uncle Jerry were our first visitors. They came just in time to watch the Wisconsin vs. Ohio State game with us. Best of all, the Badgers won! I like to think Ellie was the good luck charm!

Just a couple more pictures they took while I was sleeping.

We had a couple of days in between visits. RJ got to feed Ellie for the first time.

No better way to finish a feeding then with some cuddle time.

The shirt says it all...daddy's girl.

She sure hates tummy time.

Sleeping beauty.

RJ's parents and sister were our next visitors. They came just in time to celebrate Ellie's 2 week birthday with us.

Her first Halloween. She pretty much slept right through it.

Our last picture of her first month. She weighed 8lbs 9oz and was 21 1/2" long. She gained 1lb 10oz during her first month.
